This week, I’m going to go see this.

I’m interested to see that even though the exhibition is being held in The Smithsonian American Art Museum, it seems to focus a lot on storytelling. Of course, storytelling in games is my primary interest in the medium, but we’ll see if the focus holds up in the art museum setting.

It’ll also, to my embarrassment, be my first chance to play Flower. And to show off exactly how bad I am at Super Mario Bros.

The Art of Video Games runs through September 30 at The Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC.

(Update: I finally did a write-up on the exhibit on June 29.)

Julia Child’s Kitchen exhibit at the Smithsonian to be taken down this weekend

Originally planned for 18 months in 2002, The Smithsonian’s exhibit of Julia Child’s kitchen will be dismantled starting after the last visitor leaves this Sunday.

So I’ll be making a last-minute trip on Saturday, obviously.

I am looking forward to seeing the new apparently-planned exhibit on the transformation of cooking in the 20th Century, but I really want to visit the kitchen itself, just once.

Update, January 9: Here’s the write-up from my visit
